LLD Calculator (Leg Length Discrepancy Calculator) is a new, artificial intelligence based tool for determining the difference in leg length on standard AP pelvic radiographs. It is a quick, intuitive, reliable tool and, most importantly, allows for reliable determination of the length difference in photos taken in non-ideal projections.
LLD Calculator is designed for orthopedic surgeons performing hip replacement procedures to determine the difference in lower limb length on standard AP pelvic radiographs before or after the procedure.
It allows for a reliable assessment of the desired value on radiographs taken in suboptimal projections. It is often not possible to set the lower limbs parallel or to properly position the pelvis due to structural contracture or pain in the hip. Sometimes, the photos are taken not very precisely, and repeating them in the exact position of exposes the patient to an additional dose of radiation.
Based on artificial intelligence, LLD Calculator automatically determines bone contours and characteristic anatomical points. If the surgeon wants to correct their position, he can do it manually. Then LLD Calculator performs a series of activities, turning and comparing the right and left sides to obtain the virtual perfect position of the patient ready for measurement. The measurement value is given in millimeters.
LLD Calculator supports most graphic files used in medicine and Internet communication, such as DICOM, JPG, png, bmp and others. This allows it to be used both to analyze photo files in the hospital network and those sent via the Internet in a simplified form.
